Why are CPAP user manuals on sale on ebay? - Sleep Disorders Message Board

I have read alot of posts about doctors not telling people how to adjust their machines, but tell them to bring it in.

So is this why people are selling CPAP model user manuals on ****?

some folks lost insurance and it wont cover it and the staff wants to charge allot to reset from perscription so you want to denie those folks help?

Hello SadFreek

You can only change a couple of settings on your CPAP. When you first receive your unit from the HealthCare Provider, it has already been programmed. The programming consists of your Ramp, Altitude, and Pressure. But limits are set on the CPAP on changing your Ramp and Altitude. You are not able to change the pressure, as this can only be done by a HealthCare Official. This may be why doctor's have you bring the machine in.

I have seen both CPAP and manuals being auctioned on ****. The manuals tell you how to use the menu and also the proper care for your unit. Some people that have gotten their units second hand may not have the manual with it. These manuals can be very beneficial to some.

I have no idea why the manuals are for sale on e-bay! They seem to be the standard manuals that come with a new machine when it is given to the user. They do not seem to have any additional info such as how to re-set the machine, program it, etc.

I agree that having the manual could be helpful, but if you call the manufacturer, they will send you one for free! You can even download some of them from the manufacturers' web sites. I have often wondered why people are buying these things, if anyone has a answer, I would love to hear it!

the user manuals generally dont tell the patient how to adjust the pressure setting as the patient isnt meant to do this
