I am currently prescribed Ambien, but find that it really doesn't help too much. It helps me get to sleep, however it only keeps me asleep for about 3 or 4 hours. After that it's tossing and turning for the rest of the night as usual. I was curious if anybody has tried any ambien alternatives (i.e., Sonata), and I was wondering if you could tell me how they worked for you, and if you thought one drug was better than the other. Thanks.
for me ambien never worked. now sonata is really weird meaning sometimes it works and works well but other times it doesnt work at all and actually makes it even harder to get to sleep. right now i just only take sonta and hope it works
id like to add that it seems sleeping pills or any pills seem not to work as well for me as other people but like i said sonata has its just not everytime i take it. id try sonata.
forget lunesta. the worst pill i have ever taken. took 2 hours to fall asleep and woke up every 2 hours until at 6am i couldn't take it anymore and stayed up. then about 8.30am i started shaking and had to go to sleep. what a mess! it also has a terrible metallic aftertaste that carries over to the next day. many people on other sites that have tried it had the same experiences. look further. i think this med was tested on people that have never taken a pill in their lives. it might work for them but not people with actual sleep disorders that have taken many meds before.

I had the same effect with ambien, and my doctor switched me to tempazepam 30mg(this is the generic of restoril). It works for six hours. Some of the heavier duty sleeping pills are very habit forming so do try to avoid them. Good luck. The pharmacist switched my doctor to this.
