Hi everyone, just to let you know I'm 13 and having sleep problems (obviously as it is 4AM). See as it is summer I have been staying up til about 4 AM. I've always been a night owl...never really having a bedtime. On school night I go to sleep around 2 or 3 knowing that either way I gotta get up anyway and things work out since I'm used to it. But now in summer I stay up later on the computer talking to friends and stuff just because I don't feel tired. This is a problem because I end up getting up at around 12 PM to sometimes even 2 or occassionally 3 which I find amazing.
When I was younger I'd get up at around 7-8 AM and have no trouble sleeping but now as I've grown older I just can't sleep. I have to wait until my body is tired enough to sleep. Another problem is that when I wake up my body still feels tired and I just don't have any energy to do anything which is bad because I do have things to do such as a mowing my lawn and theres just no motivation like the type I have for school, because I know if I don't do it it won't affect me big time.
Can someone please help me in getting to sleep? Please don't blame my mother...I have had bed times before but it still happened. I just lie in bed and cannot possibly fall asleep.
Please if someone out there knows how I can fall asleep earlier without drugs and wake up earlier with more energy give me some info.
I think your problem is your life style by staying up late night chatting away and doing other things. I use to do the same thing, pulling late nighters and going to sleep at 5AM because I use to hangout with my boys. Since your still young you still have a chance. This is what I use to do to put my sleeping back on track. Pull an all nighter and donít sleep until the next day at 9pm no mater how tired you feel. I would do this on a Friday or Saturday so it does not interfere with your school. Once you sleep at 9pm the next day you will feel tired then as well. You have to give up your computer, calls an even TV to make this happen. If you donít correct this while you can you will end up like me and you can read my post on "cant sleep".
You will be all right and if all fails tell your doctor but thatís only if all fails because those meds really will mess with your internal clock then you will depend on meds for sleep which is costly.
