Can't seem to ever sleep enough! - Sleep Disorders Message Board

I'm not sure if this is a real issue or not, but I have noticed over the past year or so that no matter how much sleep I get it isn't enough. For example.....the other night I got out of work around 6 pm, went home did a few things and was asleep by 9:30. I had the next day off and slept til about noon. I was probably awake for an hour or so and was already in need of a nap. I slept for 3-4 hours went about my evening stuff and was again in bed and asleep by 10 pm. When I have to get up in the morning for work, if it is before 10 am I physically don't feel well at all. By 2 pm I am so exausted and cranky that I need to drink energy drinks to make it thru the day. Life would be great if I could sleep whenever but that is impossible to do and work a "real" job. If anyone can help me or has any sugestions please let me know.

Do you snore? Has anyone witnessed if you stop breathing whilst you are asleep? Are you over weight or have a large collar size?

I only snore when I'm sick with a cold...other than that I don't snore. I have never had anyone tell me I stopped breathing either. I'm rather small and athletic....not over weight to say the least. I do have high cholesterol and I tend to believe I have a growth hormone deficiency, I'm waiting to get an appointment with an endo. I'm just lost.

I am in the same boat as you. EXACT same thing. Can Sleep 12 hours , wake up and within 1-2 hours feel like I need to sleep again.

I am leaning towards an adrenal/thyroid problem. My cortisol levels are low in the morning and high normal at night- when I feel best. You probably are the same way.

Let me ask you this, are you male or female? Age?

I'm a guy tall and athletic too. Have been tested for sleep apnea and my oxegen level was "borderline". I bet you money you have a thyroid and/or adrenal problem

Unrefreshing sleep is a huge sign of adrenal fatigue.

bottom line: I feel your pain...it sucks

I'm a female...29 yrs and athletic. I do however believe I have aghd (adult growth hormone deficiency) I am 4'10", athletic build with the exception of my tubby belly, everyone else in my family is thin and of average to tall height. My mother is 5'6 and my father is 5'9. I have had my cortisol tested and it was fine.........I'm waiting to get into an endocrinoligsts office for tests but they are few and far between around here. I'm just tired of always being tired. Ok, I've been awake for 2 hours...wow long time, and am heading to take a nap.
