Sleeping with eyelids partially open

Does anyone sleep with their eyelids partially open, or think they do? I was wondering if anyone found an effective way to prevent this other than surgery. If you did have surgery I would still be interested in knowing a bit more. I have eye irritaion (particularly in the morning) and was wondering if anyone found a way around this? I tried OTC ointments but they offered no relief.

Re: Sleeping with eyelids partially open

I know a couple people who do this, but it hasn't caused them any problems. Have you tried sleeping with a mask on?

Re: Sleeping with eyelids partially open

I've tried masks and ointments with little improvement, I think I have a dry eye problem as well which makes it worse. I was just looking for a way to reduce exposure during sleep.

Cool Re: Sleeping with eyelids partially open

I sleep with my eyes open also. You might want to talk to the doctor and ask him to check for pressure behind your eyes. I have irritation with my eyes but I never thought that that could be why, lol. Let me know too what you find out. And yes I have also been told that I have freaked people out before because they thought I was awake and they would start talking to me and I would turn over or something I have done that a few times my friends have told me about it.

Re: Sleeping with eyelids partially open

I sleep with them partially open (or so I've been told by my DH). Oddly enough the eye doctor also mentioned I must sleep with them open or partially open as well. She said it causes dry eye and told me to use a natural tear product every morning.
