Hey everyone, I'm a 18 year old male thats been having a bit of a trouble sleeping.

I'll explain my situation and if anyone has any tips or suggestions that would be great, if not I guess it helped me vent a bit


on the first of september I find my self in a ambulance, They found out that I had pancreatitis as well as my galbladder was full of stones ( a stone had gotten caught in a bile duct directing bile into my pancreatitis for thos who are interested) anyways to stay on topic, from the first day I was in the hospital until the very last day I left, they gave me a drug known as Hydromorphone, also known as Dilaudid, which I'm sure most of you know is suppose to be much more powerful than morphine. They tried morphine but for whatever reason it had no effect, or maybe the pain was that great? Anyways I was given Dilaudid on a extermly regular basis, basically almost every 2 hours, and sometimes continuous at night. By the last day before discharge, known that I was physically addicted and more than likely mentally addicted they took me off of the Dilaudid cold turkey and since then I haven't been able to sleep. Now I may very well be making a false connection, becuase at this point theres no way the drug could still be in my system and I doubt I could be still be dependent on it, but What I do know is since then I have a extremly hard time sleeping, and if I do get to sleep its extremly restless.

I know that my best bet is to get to a doctor, but my problem at the moment is, this all happened back up in new york, and since then i've actually moved down to orlando to start college. And I've been down here so little time that I havent found a primary caregiver and such.


I also thought about it maybe just being the fact of moving, and the whole hospital thing really shook me up, becuase I actually had to fave plasma, and blood transfusions and every other complication you would think never would come from a case of pancreatitis, and maybe thats just put some stress on me and affecting my sleep.

Which ever the problem, I've been trying to find ways to help sleep, trying reading before bed, and all the tips you can find online, but I attend a accelerated college, and basically, I need sleep

I've had friends recommend maybe just trying Nyquil or something and basically I'm asking if anyone knows any drugs that may help sleep, or possibly any tips for that matter.

I know eventually i'm gonna have to see a doctor but in the meantime, any help or ideas, or any input at all would really be appriciated, If you actually read all this, thanks! - Eric
