House burning vision - Sleep Disorders Message Board

Once or twice a week while I'm sleeping, I'll hear a short "click" inside my head and then have a vision of a house burning. It first started with the whole house on fire. Next time it happened, I was standing closer. Next, I'm inside! The last episode I was standing so close to a burning wall inside I could feel the heat! Everytime this happens, naturally I wake up in a panic and find I was not really "dreaming," per se, but had a vision flash.

I'm afraid to even light a candle around here!!

Anybody else have something weird like this??

I have had many of these "night terrors" (as I have heard them called). They usually occur when I am extremely tired, so I can sort of tell when it's going to happen (most of the time). I don't feel a "clicking" as much, but I feel like I've just been dropped into my sleep and I here a sort of "thud". This is of course when I experience sleep paralysis as well (which goes hand in hand with the nightmare). Your burning house vision sounds very much like a night terror to me. Are you also experiencing the sleep paralysis? I have read that you are more prone to this when you fall asleep on your back, so you could try falling asleep on your side. I have also noticed that if I'm feeling like I may have an issue I try to clear my mind and think of something I would actually like to dream of. I hope this helps.

YEs only mine was of a dog barking. Why? I dunno. I dont' think its unusual though.
