Question Bad SLeep and Bad Dreams

Hey everyone, first off I would like to say I love this site its so helpful and everyone is nice and willing to help, it's great!!!

[Brief History On Me]: I have had sleeping problems ever since I was a little child. I use to sleep walk on a regular basis up until I was 10 or 11 years old. So every time I woke up I was always exhausted. In my teenage years I started not being able to sleep for long periods of time. I then could sleep usually in 3-4 hour intervals and then would take an 1- 2 hours trying to get back to sleep. So of course I was never a happy morning person. As I get it just gets worse. I have tried ambien up to 10mg and they don't even work for me. My sleeping patterns now are I sleep when I get tired, If I am lucky. I don't drink coffee or eat any sugar or anything that would keep me awake. When I get to sleep I sleep for an hour and sometimes less before I wake up. I am always tired. So on top of almost not sleeping completely I get really bad dreams. They take over my sleep and wake me up to the point were I am almost crying. I feel sick all day and like I wanna cry and I can never get the dreams out of my head. The worse ones I have are usually of my hubby cheating on me. I know its nothing I should worry about since I literally see him 24-7 and we are never separated, but why do I dream it every night?? (I have always been able to remember my dreams and I can always tell it in full colored detail. I have had weird dreams where stuff came true, like friends getting hurt or littles that happen in like a deja vu sense.) I also have chronic knee pain for a little over a year now and will be having surgery at some point when things are settled with Workers Comp.

Basically what I was wondering if anyone knew what was wrong or knew of a way to help me sleep at night and for long periods of time. Any help at all would be great since I haven't ever slept any solid amount of time in my life.

Those sleeping problems have been going on for no matter what I try. The doctor gave me a script for sleeping pills and they kept me asleep for about 5 hours and then I was up again and couldn't fall asleep. I am 22 years old, I don't drink due to the fact it cause extremely bad heartburn/acid reflux.

I know this is a weird thing to post, but I was hoping maybe someone out there would now where I'm coming from and be able to help me with something even a home remedy.

Last night was another episode of not sleeping and when I did I had a ****** dream again.

Me too...i have been having the same type of dreams and it is really ****in me off. i know in my heart that my hubby isn't cheating and it really makes him mad b/c i question his every move since the dreams have started. i am paranoid of it now. not sure what to do or how to fix the dreams.

you really should talk with your doctors about not sleeping. there are medicines that may help you. even if you only get 5 hours of sleep, isn't that better than sleeping just one before you wake up?

as for the dreams. dreams are a window into the unconscious. i'd be willing to bet that somewhere inside of you are fears of your husband being unfaithful. where you cheated on before by him or someone else? it sounds like you are innately insecure and these insecurities come out in your sleep. does he express that he is not satisfied with the relationship? do you consciously fear you are not good enough? i believe counseling would be an excellent resource for you. these dreams can be troubling and talking with a professional may help you to uncover why you think of these things, and then help to stop you from doing so.
