Last night, I had a really scary circumstance and I'm not sure what to do about it. I am an extremely light sleeper and frequently have to sleep with ear plugs because even my bf's breathing wakes me up. I didn't wear ear plugs last night, and good thing too, because in the middle of the night, I wake up because BF was talking in his sleep, saying horrible things. He was cursing incohrently as if he had no control over what he was saying. Then he started talking about "strangling her." And the worst part was his hand started moving toward my face in super slow motion.

I slapped his hand away and screamed, "Oh my God, what are you doing?" He didn't wake up though, but instead started talking to me, very mumbled, I could barely understand him. I asked him if he was trying to kill me. He said no, he loves me. Then he wrapped me in his arms and started cuddling with them and caressing my arms.

This morning, he remembered nothing.

Now, some background info. He sleep talks a lot and will often times grab me and hold me and caress me. He'll try and make out with me. In the morning he'll never remember it. He often has incoherent conversations with me. He is a very heavy sleeper. I kick him a lot to get the blanket back and he never wakes up.

I believe the "strangling" dream came from two places. One, I had a stiff neck last night and he gave me a massage and I think that may have seeped into his dream in a way. And two, he plays a lot of violent video games, and had downloaded a new one last night and perhaps that ended up in his dream.

He is not a violent person and I've never been scared that he will attempt murder on me, until last night. I've read about a few cases where someone stabs someone else in their sleep.

We've been living together for 4 years, so this is very new.

I'm scared to go to sleep tonight, scared to use my ear plugs, scared of him. This is really upsetting me and I'm not sure what to do about it.

Any advice greatly appreciated.
