how long until trazodone works for insomnia? - Sleep Disorders Message Board

hi

i would like any info anyone has to share about how long it takes for trazodone to make you sleepy?

i took 150 mg over an hour ago and do feel a little sleepy but not enough to actually get to sleep.

i only started taking trazodone a few days ago but have yet to feel any hypnotic effects.

does anyone have any advice as i suffer from chronic insomnia and just want to get some rest.

I am sorry that you can't sleep. i haven't slept in 2 years, it sucks alot. I took trazodone before and it left me with a severe migraine. I stopped taking it because it did not work. Ambien works alot better, but i have no memory after taking it and it is a bit addictive. I'm not on that anymore either. Now i am taking serequel which is an anti psychotic medicine. It makes me sleep, but my girlfriend told me that I grind my teeth and my body shakes. Mostly i am incoherent. Don't know what to tell ya. Just be careful and look for something that your body agrees with.
