My Attacks Only Happen When I'm Falling Asleep?????
Hi everyone...
I came to this sight as a last resort to a problem I thought I was the only one going through. I see some have posted with similar issues and was wondering if anyone seeked medical advice and what the doctors have said it was. Here is my story.....
Almost a year ago this all started and it was only happening once a month now it is happening a few times a week. As a feel my self falling asleep I wake up suddenly with a "jolt" and feels like I have stopped breathing. My heart is racing and lately feels like it is quivering. My arms and legs seem to be vibrating at times also. The sensation goes away after a few minutes and I go back to sleep and never get awoken by that feeling again. It only happens when I am just about to go to sleep. Sometimes when this initially happens I have a spaced out feeling and alittle disoriented. Only once did I wake up and for the moment couldn't move my arms or legs but that hasn't happened again....thank god.
My cardiologist has requested me wear a heart monitor which should be arriving by ups tomorrow. If that shows nothing then she really wants me to go for a sleep study.
What doctors has everyone been to about this? and what do they say it is?

Sleep paralysis can cause what you are experiencing. Sleep paralysis is often a side effect of sleep apnea or another factor causing sleep deprivation.. consulting a sleep specialist might be a good idea.
SIncerely,
