Thumbs up Thank You mkgbrook

I somehow stumbled on this forum while surfing the internet. I have sleep apnea and have been using a CPAP for a couple of years. This year has been terrible for allergies, nose stuffiness, sneezing, eyes watering, and many hellish nights trying to deal with the CPAP. Mkgbrook recommended Ponaris and Pretz for nasal dryness. I had to purchase them online, but I got them. Started using them late yesterday afternoon. I'm sitting here actually able to breathe without my dose of Afrin. I have been using Afrin nose spray twice a day (or more) for at least a year. Thank you so much for your post on these products. I am more hopeful than I've been in a long time about being able to get off the Afrin and still be able to breathe. My poor nose feels better than it's felt in a long, long time. Thanks again for sharing.

Re: Thank You mkgbrook

Your welcome. Glad it helps. I will pass the kudos to my ENT who got my husband, me and my son on it. He recommends it to all those who have CPAP and chronic sinus ailments. It has worked wonders to my family. I think the oil actually insulates the nasal membrane thus preventing as much allergen irritation and increased air flow irritation. The fact that Pretz is Ph balanced allows it to rinse gunk out of the way with out irritating the area and causing membranes to produce more goo. Over all in my opinion it is one of the best fixes for me and mine. We are off our Nasonex and flonase now.. and for the most part only need them during the peek of allergy seasons.

I hope that things continue to work out well for you.
Sincerely,
MG

Hi MG! So glad to see you're still posting! Haven't been here for awhile so haven't been keeping up with all the changes. Was interested in your comment about the pretz and ponaris as I, too, have occasional allergy problems.

Would like to also "butt" in and say that I've learned that several of my bp medications made breathing very difficult, so one should also check for side effects of a medication if one is taking one. While on a simple water pill, I had an inhaler, nasonex, and something else I refused to fill...when I stopped taking the water pill I realized it shouldn't have been prescribed to someone with allergies because of the breathing problems it could cause. And I haven't had severe respiratory problems since being off of the water pill. Beta blockers are notorious for causing breathing problems, too...

That's all I've got for now...except for the fact that the heater on my dehumidifier went kaput...it's always something.

Bethsheba

Re: Thank You mkgbrook

I couldn't resist dropping by again. I don't take much in the way of medication. Thyroid, ultram, allergy pill, and vitamins. I'm just an allergy machine. I've always been that way. Had asthma as a child. I think the CPAP has caused a lot of my problems of late (in addition to the regular allergies.) I've also switched masks. I am trying one of my husband's old ones that has nose pillows. I've slept so well for the past two nights. I am actually dreaming again. You do learn to rathole those CPAP supplies!

Someone wrote in asking about their romantic life with a CPAP. My husband and I both have CPAPs. I hope we never have a fire and have sudden company! We just laugh at each other and go to sleep. Sometimes our little dogs look at us in a very puzzled way. The day I brought my first mask home, I put it on and "Buster" took off running. He was ok when he realized it wasn't for him. I'm to the point in life I'm justs thankful to get some sleep.
