Look, I'm fed up with the way the people in this "great land" of ours are being treated when it comes to the broken health care system.
I have never had any real legitimate problem with my own doctors...but now I am quite frustrated with a recent event that has turned my parents world upside down!
My mother has been on a prescription for Ambien for a few years now. Just last week, she apparently sleepwalked (which she has never done in her life)
and she fell down a flight of steps in our house.
She was transported to the local hospital where she receievd several MRI's and CAT scans. The reports revealed 4-5 broken ribs, broken collar bone, damaged shoulder blade and some bleeding in her head.
She is in a great deal of pain and still wears a neck brace every day.
Now, here's what I don't understand. After the initial shock of this episode passed, she then informs me that she has fallen before while on this Ambien drug. She just never told me.
I can only hope that she has been honest with her doctor and explained to him what reactions she has been getting from Ambien, but why would he continue to perscribe it to her? Something is not being communicated properly.
I am just deeply concerned and I fear that once the insurance comapny gets this claim, the fun will really begin. Yes, I'm being sarcastic.
What more can we do?

Can we sue the doctor?

Is there any valid case for this? I would think that something could be done. I'm not out to collect millions here, because I'm not that kind of person but I do feel that there has been negligence regarding my mother's care.
Thanks for any help.
