I wouldn't be surprised. I made the mistake of thinking my sleep specialist knew the basics and from what I can gather, he missed a few (overlooked med side effects and electrolyte deficiencies causing periodic limb movements).

Excellent idea...which reminds me, I think we are supposed to have our machines checked once a year.

I'm really sorry about your back and sleep problems...every ache and pain is so much worse when we're not rested. Are you still waking up every 3-4 hours with a hot mask? Is it a regular event or sporadic? Is it possible there is a connection to the meds you take now and the events? I ask because blood pressure meds made me wake up at different times during the night...I woke up at 1:30 every am with the water pill....and I woke up at midnight and 3 am with amlodipine....and I have since learned that many meds cause sleep problems. We just don't associate our meds with sleep.
Do hope you are able to find some restorative sleep on a regular basis.
Take care.
