Whenever I've had this happen to me I've always been laying on my back. If I sleep on my side it doesn't happen to me. It used to happen to me once a week but it's been years since I've had the paralysis part of it. So it can go away. I don't take anything for it. I do try to sleep on my side always to keep it from happening though. It's rare I wake up on my back.
