| Re: cant sleep
Julie,
I am so sorry to hear about your sleep troubles. When my insomnia first started many years ago, I tried every over the counter remedy available, including sleeping pills (like Sominex, Tylenol PM, etc.) as well as herbal supplements that allegedly aid sleep (Valerian, HTP, St. John's Wort, Kava Kava, Melatonin). Obviously, you can experiment with these, as well as herbal teas, aromatherapy, massage, etc., but personally, I did not find any of these to be helpful. A visit to a sleep specialist is what I would recommend for you if you exhaust (no pun intended) all your attempts to treat your insomnia with OTC products. There is no shame in needing professional help to get your sleep back on track.
You might benefit from sleep hygiene practices as well, as they work for many people who have developed bad habits at bed time. If not, take the first step toward getting professional help before you go too long without quality sleep so that you reduce your risk of developing other health problems.
Good luck, and let us know how you're doing.
Blessings,
TexMom
