Jerking when trying to fall asleep??? - Sleep Disorders Message Board

Hi people. just a quick question. Something really weird has happened to me yesterday and couple of days ago. The Dr put me on amitriptyline, telling me it will help me sleep??? and I've been taking it for 10 days already. So far no success, cannot sleep, 24/7 awake. Yesterday and couple of days ago I was jerking when I tried so hard to fall asleep, like all my body and my legs were jerking, like I'm in a panic? (but I'm never in a panic). What is this?
Why this happened? any idea? where this jerking coming from?
Is it from the amitriptyline? perhaps this medicadtion is not for me?
I don't remember anything like that happened before I used amitriptyline.
Just a reminder, been in a car accident, whiplash with chronic neck pain 24/7
and no sleep for 3 years.

Sounds like side effects to me. I would suggest you reread your package insert, call your pharmacist, and then call your doctor.

I've found it beneficial to do my "research" before calling the doctor because the old doc's aren't always current on their side effects despite the obvious.
