My sleep study tomorrow night

I've read the stuff they sent me and know what is going to happen. I'm not really thrilled with having to go and try to sleep in a strange place. I have my own ways of making me fall asleep when I am having a hard time and that is putting in a DVD that I have seen dozens of times, it makes me sleep and I fall sleep. i don't suppose they have a TV with a DVD there? Can I take my laptop and movie with me? I know they said they need at least six hours so it's my hope to go in get hooked up, take my meds and watch a movie so I fall asleep as fast as possible so I can leave as soon as possible. Also on any given night I can get up to urinate the least amount 4 times, the most 20 times. With my Lupus, Fibro, DDD, OA, Psoriasis, and Raynaud's it's hard enough to sleep in my own home in my own bed. It there anyone that has gone in and not been able to sleep? I know I have sleep apnea, I have all the signs and symptoms, so other then getting a Cpap machine is there any other reasons for having a sleep test? Thanks for any help anyone gave give me!

Alexa

Re: My sleep study tomorrow night

bring your own pillow. wear loose clothing with separate top and bottom, they need to run leads to your legs.

they probably do have a TV/DVD but you can bring a laptop (you can bring pretty much anything).

I also brought a "white noise" generator. a fan makes much the same noise.

as far as bathroom breaks they just disconnect one plug and off you go.

sleep tests can find a pile of stuff.

Re: My sleep study tomorrow night

It is kind of weird trying to go to sleep when you are "trying", especially when you are being videotaped, and have wires all over the place. I would give the sleep clinic a call today, and ask what comforts from home you can bring.

I remember wearing loose fitting 2 piece flannel pajama's, bringing my own pillow, and having my hubby stay with me till I was ready for bed. The staff was very supportive, and understanding.

I found the results very interesting, and would like to do it again, just to see if any progress has been made after the 4-5 years since I had my first one.

Sleep tight!

Re: My sleep study tomorrow night

Thanks write, I've got a flexeril and some other meds that make me really tired, and I'm bringing my laptop with my favorite movie, for some reason it always makes me sleepy. I guess because I've seen a 100 times lol, so it makes a great sleeping aid. I'll bring my pillow, but I hate wearing anything to bed, that will be weird. If I still have a problem then I'm bring my ebook, but as long as it's dark enough I should be able to sleep; I can't stand having any kind of light; I have a thick black curtain on the window. I have 1 1/2 hours before I leave, and I haven't slept away from home or my partner in years so that would be weird. My cats are 2 years old and this will be their first time Mama has been gone overnight. I hope to get at least 6, that is what they said they need.

I wanted to add that going to sleep isn't my usually problem, pain and breathing problems keep me from staying asleep.
