| Sleep Issues...
I am a 24 year old male. I am a non-smoker, and do not drink. I am overweight however. I have always been a night person, even when I was a kid, I would stay up all night and sleep most of the day.
In the past 5 years or so, I've been able to have a "normal" sleep cycle. Going to bed between midnight - 4 AM and waking between 8 AM- 12 PM. This schedule has always worked pretty decent for me and has never had any problems.
However, in recent months, I have been unable to sleep. I've been trying to sleep at night because I work during the day now. I don't need to get up until almost noon so I have been trying to go to bed anywhere between 10 PM to 4 AM. However, no matter what time I try to sleep, or how long I've been trying that same schedule... the same issue still happens.
Lets say that I go to bed at 10 or 11 at night. I will almost ALWAYS wake up at exactly 1:30 or 2:00 AM and I will be wide awake and can't go back to bed until 9 AM or so. If I go to bed at 2 AM or so, I will wake up at 6 AM or so and again, be wide awake. It seems like I am always waking up around 3-4 hours after I go to bed. During that 3-4 hours of sleep, I sometimes wake up with my heart racing like crazy and not sure why. If for some reason I am finally able to sleep more than 6 hours, I sometimes wake up with a very bad headache.
This is really starting to become a problem in my life and seeing that I don't have any health insurance either... this puts me in a bad spot.
Any idea what could be going on?
