what happens when the mind wont shut off

what happens when the mind wont shut off ?iam not able to get proper sleep since 3yrs due to learned insomnia.may b my subconscious is dominating me.iam an mbbs graduate 2007.my actual problem is that my circadian rhytm is not fit for my daily activities.may b it might took 20 or more hrs to get back to sleep after waking up from sleep.i think my subconscious has been very nicely tuned up for this and so far its been devastating.i think someother could also had this problem.all this happened after my first anxiety neurosis attack 3 yrs back during my exams.i took flouxetiene for 7 days misinterpreting the situation as depression,and stopped the drug right at there.i tend to have this apprehensive factor that something could happen to me,if at all any negative thing happens for ex;one day while iam eating food bolus got stuck in my throat and i thought that it might not get swallowed.eventually it gone down after a few sec.my apprehension just got its roots after this dreadful incident in my life[anxiety neurosis],and finally my baniyan tree[insomnia]also developedlike this when i couldnt sleep one night.really the subconscious is killing me and my future is at crossroads.please rescue me.....ilook forward to ur helping hand

Welcome to the boards, maheshraaja4,

I am so very sorry you are not sleeping well....sleep is required for good mental and physical health. Unfortunately, we don't have the knowledge, the expertise, or the necessary tools to diagnose you. We can make suggestions, though, and my suggestion would be to see a doctor for a general physical to see if there was anything "obviously" wrong. If that doctor doesn't find anything wrong, then you would need to see a doctor who specializes in sleep disorders. It may take you some time to find that doctor, and it may take some time to get in to see that doctor...so in the meantime it may be helpful to read about circadian rhythms disorders and other sleep problems.

I wish I could offer more, but that's all I can think of for now. Do keep in touch and let us know how you're doing.
