Lyrica - safe to open up capsule?

Was prescribed Lyrica 50mg a few days ago for sleep and fibromyalgia. Is it safe to open up the capsule to slowly up the dosage? It only seemed to help the first night. I'm on the 3rd night I think and the sleep problem is still here.

I would definitely NOT do that. Call your doctor, explain your situation, and see what they suggest. What you are wanting to do is unsafe without a doctor's recommendation.

I definitely agree with slender....never up your dose or alter it before talking with your doctor...you dont know what it will do and you dont want to take any chances of it really making you sicker then you are. Whenever i see my doctor and he gives me a new medicine i always ask him if its not working can i stop taking it or if its working but i need more how much can i take etc. never take and alter a prescription at least before talking with your doctor...I would call your doctor to see if you can take 2 instead of 1 or maybe he can give you a stronger dose...that my opinion....I myself was on lyrica but found it didnt work as well as cymbalta...hope this helps
