what is best way to sleep for me?

I have pretty severe insomnia usually and take about 4-8 hours to fall asleep, but recently something worse happened. I got a hemorrhoid and it left an anal skin tag which hurts and itches really bad. I can't sleep on my side anymore just back and stomach. I am wondering if sleeping in a chair or tilting my bed on an angle would help? Is their any other tricks I can use?
Here is the conditions of my insomnia
I don't get tired at night. If I wake up early I don't fall asleep early. Waking up early also has severe physical pain in my back and eyes to the point I can't keep them open. I can sleep perfectly if I goto bed 3 hours later every night, I get tired and fall asleep in 5 minutes when I do this, but having a job again prevents me from doing that. I know the difference between thinking too much and not being tired. I am definitely not tired.

i'm a bit confused by this. at what hour are you going to be exactly when you say "3 hrs later" and that you can fall asleep within 5 minutes? what is your desired bedtime?

also as far as your physical condition, you'll just have to sleep in a position that is most comfortable; don't think there's really much choice there.

over all, it sounds as if you have a similar problem to me in that your sleep cycle is disturbed. i'm also in calgary and there is sleep clinic that i've started going to in the SW. one thing you could try is melatonin..but take it 2-3 hrs before your intended bedtime. it doesn't work the same way as an actual sleep aid and should be used differently. according to my sleep doctor, 2-3hrs before your desired bedtime is optimal.
