Tired at 5pm-7pm but wide awake at night?

At around 5pm-7pm I can calmly and easily fall asleep but I hold off because I heard naps were bad for sleep. Then when it gets to bed time (1am-4am), I just cannot fall asleep as easily. i am anxious and excited and find it very hard to feel calm. Why is this?

I'm confused- why not go to sleep around 10? If you can't sleep around 1am, it seems like you've passed up the "sleep window" or "window of opportunity"... i'm currently seeing a sleep psychologist, and he told me about that.

If I go to sleep when Im sleepy (5pm to 7pm) then my sleeping pattern will be messed up and it will really conflict with my schedule in day to day life. At 10pm I am wide awake.
