Narcolepsy - what are some of the cheapest medication?
I was just diagnosed with Narcolepsy. The doctor prescribed Nuvigil. Of course he would prescribe me a newer medication. I looked up the price on my insurance website and "my" cost is $150 every 90 days. I already take two other medications that are $100 every three months. I'm not going to take another one. Are there any other good medications for Narcolepsy that doesn't cost an arm and a leg?
Re: Narcolepsy - what are some of the cheapest medication?
You might ask Dr to prescribe generic Ritalin sustained release, which can be taken once or twice a day and comes in different strengths. I think it is the cheapest of all the meds used-methylphenidate. It should be much more reasonable, and you can call around to different pharmacies to get the lowest price.

ritalin is very addictive...best to avoid, and it gives you the gitters.
I prefer Xyrem at night to keep me in stage two sleep longer, and modafilin daily if needed...neither addictive/ does not give you the gitters.
also...look up and contact CARING VOICE COALITION they WILL help you pay for your medication co-pays.
