I have been having rubbish nights sleep for ages now (not really sure when it started). I wake up 3/4 times a night usually with nightmares/vivid dreams. after getting back to sleep these usually continue on.
I have also been told in the past that i have episodes of not breathing, but i dont know if i still do this.
Usually in the morning i still feel tired (and usually grumpy!) and feel sleepy for most of the day.
I also feel out of breath sometimes during the night/after waking. i have had heartburn for a while and thought this was the reason for feeling out of breath.
Could this be sleep apnea? I dont know if it could be related to the heartburn/labyrinthitis i was diagnosed with a while ago or stress i have been having...
visit a pulmonologist...have a sleep study. i worked reading sleep study reports for years and the common complaints of symptoms by patients prior to sleep study and after treatment are :
always> witnessed struggle for breath, patients throat pulling inward, but not waking...even if its only for a few seconds...sometimes 50 + times a night
unexplained weight loss with cpap treatment
do not blow this off...it takes years off your life by stressing your heart, lungs, etc...
get it checked out.
have a great turkey day!
You have all the signs of sleep apnea and I speak from experience. I had it for years and never knew it, but would wake up in the middle of the night, gasping for breath. However, the next day I would be fine and this did not seem to happen all the time-to my knowledge. One Christmas morning, I got up and had NO energy and I am a person who is loaded with energy. The sleep apnea had caught up to me! So, I had a sleep study test done and now am on a machine. Please do yourself a favor and go have a test done because if you need a machine, it could save your life. Sleep apnea untreated can lead to very serious issues.
