What is wrong with me? Please help

Hi my name is Haley. I have this weird thing that happens while I'm sleeping. *correction kind of sleeping.
It normally only happens every time I don't take my nerve pain medication Neurotonin/gabapentin.
Lately it has been happening occasionally even when I do take it.
And just background it happened occasionally years before I even began the medication normally after working late shift at work.

It's not like lucid dreaming at all! But I am asleep and awake. More asleep though. It's like I'm tossing and turning and having the same 3min dream over and over for hours. Not being able to wake up, but trying to make myself fall asleep. It's not a deep dream at all. I get no rest whatsoever.

Please help me.. Is this a form of sleep paralysis? Insomnia? Both? Has this happened to anyone?

Re: What is wrong with me? Please help

Greetings! A sleep specialist might do better than us. My deepest sympathy is extended. Sometimes sleep apnea can cause dangerous disturbances in sleep and one may wish to find out if this is happening. Sometimes the medicines for sleep themselves cause a lack of sleep believe it or not. I am not guaranteeing any cure but what I can say is that if food is eaten too close to bedtime or the stomach is still full of food at bedtime nightmares and resulting sleep disturbances may occur.

The last meal of the day should be light and maybe just a peice of bread and a peice of fruit and several hours before bedtime. I would try to study more about proper sleep habits and about the brain where sleep occurs. Of course everyone makes their own health care decisions and is in charge of their own health care. Peace sjb

Re: What is wrong with me? Please help

Thanks for your response! I will try the changing my dinner habits and see if it helps. I'm going to the doctor tomorrow to get off this medicine. If the problem still is happening I have considered seeing a sleep specialist.

I just wish I knew what was wrong.
