I am soon to have a sleep apnea test can anyone tell me what this is like .

My husband went through it last year, you spend the night or two( maybe later on) if you are showing breathing interruptios. They put a mask on you so you keep your throat open and don't stop breathing. My husband had the surgery. Take care, Kim

HI I am new to this board. I was diagnosed with cetnteral sleep apnea about 2 years ago. I had a bad time trying to sleep with a CPAP. I finally gave up , I know I shouldn't have . I have a mild case. I'm still having a miserable time sleeping. I usually get 4 hours a night if I am lucky. I usually have to froce myself to do things during the day. I am retired from nursing. I am 48. I have also been diagones with fibromyalgia and chronic fatique.
I have tried Amibien but of course my regular DR is very hesitant on continuing to prescribe that and I understand. I have tried Alluna and Benedryl. Some nights it seems to help some nights not.
I awaken several times a night. IT sure bites when you don't have to get up in the morning and you awaken between -6 for the day.
This morning I went back to bed at 6:40 and to my amazment fell back to sleep until 8:45.
I do take 300 milligrams of trazadone
( antideperssent) at bedtime. HAve been taking this for about 5 years. I have tried not to take this but then I really do not sleep. At the time of my sleep study I was on about 13 meds. Of course the neuologist said " way too many". LOL I knew that.
Now I am down to 2, a pain pill when necessary and the antidepressent. SO is it time to go back to my neurologist? { I know this answer LOL} He has not seen me since my follow up appotinment after I started using the CPAP. Or anyone have any suggestions?

The machine is called a CPAP. It keeps a positive air pressure into your nose so that your skin in your throat dosen't block your breathing. But, this is only used on person's with blocked sleep apnea. I would call the sleep center Monday, if I were you, to ask any questions you want answered. Good luck, Kim
