cpap problems - Sleep Disorders Message Board

I just got my machine Thursday and when I got up on Friday my ears felt plugged. After a couple of hours it kind of went away. When I got up on Saturday they were plugged up even worse. Is this a side effect of the machine? Has anyone else had this happen? What can I do to stop it? I did not use the machine last night and my ears are still plugged. Please tell me this is not going to happen all of the time. Thank you, Tara

I have had my cpap about 3 weeks and I have had all kinds of strange mornings I have had the plugged ears and sore throats and headaches I go back to the doctor Tuesday so I have lots to ask. I will say the way I feel makes all this seem unimportant. If someone had told me that havinging air blown up my nose could make me feel this good I would have told them they were crazy but it works!!!!!

To Tarakay--
Maybe your CPAP is blowing with too much pressure? My husband has had CPAP for almost two years and he had this prob a little at first--also if he has a cold or allergies. Have your CPAP tech or doc check it for the air pressure. Good luck!

I've had CPAP for a couple of years. I can remember a period of adjustment when I first got it but now there is nothing that would stop me from wearing my mask whether I am taking a nap or going to bed for the night. As someone else mentioned in this thread it's unbelievable how much better we feel simply by having air blowing up our noses!

Check with your doctor and explain what's happening. I am sure with time and possibly an adjustment in the pressure you are going to get used to CPAP and not want to sleep without it!
