Angry Allways feeling sleepy

I have a serious sleeping problem. For 12 years I have been suffering from this. Initially I used to stay awake almost till 3 or 4 in the morning due to tension or anxiety. This used to happen a lot for many months. Now I am in such a situation that I need( or atleast I think so) 10 hours of sleep every day to be active, otherwise I am dull, my voice is very low couldn't concentrate on any thing. When I have sufficient sleep the following day I will suffer to sleep. I don't know if this is causing me to get into stress also. I get tensed up when I lose something, or someone scolds me, even if it is for fun. Do I have to go to a doctor or just take some over the counter drugs to get good sleep. Will I become addicted to this. I have been avoiding them with this in mind. Sometimes I even feel I should consult a psychiatrist. Help me.

Hi,
Have you tried wearing socks to bed? I read that it makes you go to sleep faster because in the natural falling-asleep process, your body draws heat away from the hands and feet as a signal to the brain to slow down. I don't recommend taking any sleeping pills. My mum takes them once a month or less, and after she takes one (dopamine), she sleeps but then she's drowsy for the whole day and can't get out of bed.

As for the stresses in your life, have you taken a vacation recently? Just a short trip might help, if you're working and worrying constantly. Maybe try a spa or try a new sport you've never played before?

Sounds to me like you may have a problem with stress related disorders, One of the signs of depression is what you just described. Stress and the sleeplessness and sleepingtoo much. ect. I would talk to my doctor about this a general practioner can decide where you need to go from there.

Regarding Kjayec's post that cold hand and feet are the body's way of signaling the mind to go beddy bye.... now what about those who have cold hands and feet almost 24 hrs a day? Did it say anything about that from the source your mum read? I wonder if that means people with chronic cold hands and feet are always in a sleepy zone! Oh gads!!

I have a problem that is alomst the same. I have Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome. I have finally found a Dr. that can give me coping strategies. Light Therapy is one of the main courses of action.
