Unhappy Can anyone relate to this?

Okay, this first started when I was 13 and I remember the first time like it was yesterday. I remember that I was dreaming I was walking down the street with a friend, it was dark out, then, all of a sudden, I feel and hear this enormous wind blowing all around and right through me. Next thing I remember, I was lying in bed, and I felt this horrifyingly evil presence in the room with me. I felt like I was awake but half stuck in this surreal nightmare. It was truly terrifying. I had to will myself to wake up. When I did I could barely move, my heart was pounding and every muscle in my body was tensed up. Over the years (I'm now 33) it has continued and has gotten worse. It always happens midway through a dream, this wind falls around me, I'm lying in bed I can see everything, the dresser, the window, but that underlying terror is always there. In some instances, whatever this presence is that's in the room anally rapes me. And then, before it ends, I wake up, too terrified to move or breath. I have lost many a night's sleep over this and cannot understand for the life of me what causes these godawful dreams. I now live with my boyfriend, and am more than grateful to have him there when I wake up from these nightmares, or whatever they are. I have told my doctor about it some years ago, but I was much too embarrassed to go into full detail about what sometimes happens. I'm at a complete loss as to what this is, and I was wondering if there was anyone else out there who has had similar experiences. Is it something I'm eating or not eating? I hear spicy food can sometimes cause nightmares, but this is far removed from a nightmare, and I can sometimes eat something as bland as eggs and it still happens.
Any advice or stories you could share would be great.
Thank you.

Hi,

Firstly, I just want to clarify with you that food doesn't cause dreams or nightmares. You're the creator, and it's your story, with you playing all the parts. The food you eat may cause you to not sleep well, causing your restlessness and wakefulness. It can be related to how you sleep, but not a cause for what you dream.

Dreams are your subconscious in symbols. You have to interpret them to how they relate to you and your personal past/present.

There are many good dream books on the market. You could also check it out on the internet or go to the library.

You may also have what's called night terrors. It's like being partly awake while you're still asleep and dreaming. I have a friend who has them. They're very disturbing to her.

If you're looking up dream interpretation, check out all the aspects you described, but individually. Whatever is happening in your life at this time, as well as when you were 13 has been interpreted by you in the same consistent symbolism. As we age, our experience with verbal experessions may have a great input.

Getting "screwed up the butt" is a common expression. Is there someone who you feel is violating you in some way? That could be your space, at your job, a friend...etc. It all depends on your personal situation, past experiences and your perspective on things. That's what influences your dreams.

There are basic "worldly" interpretations on symbols, that's why a book may help.

I have a few books, but one that I especially like is "10,000 Dreams Interpreted" by Pamela Ball. I purchased it at Chapter's. Excellent and cheap.

You could think of it as a project of yourself. Nothing gives us insight like our subconscious. Those are usually the thoughts we keep well below the surface. They come out at the most inopportune times, but they are the key to our troubles.

Figure it out, the fear will be progressively less, and eventually gone. That is, until another situation comes up....with other symbols....and you can do it all over again.

It's worked tremendously for me.....but I have most bizarre dreams -- and some scare the **** right out of me.

At least think about it.

My best to you for more peaceful dreams,
quincy
