RELAPSERS - get bk on the program

Hi D, I, D, NC, Ch, F, BB, and all - yes I figured initials were faster. LOL

I am still 100% smoke free and it's almost 4 months so glad to report for those inquirin minds

Now Invinc/NCGirl and any other relapsers or any contemplating it.......................stop right now and think about what you're doing. Where are the reasons you quit? Why did you let stress or anything ADD to your hardship? Please do not confuse yourself into thinkin you're doin yourself a favor.

There are some people in this world that will say "Well at least I'm gonna die happy." Unfortunately for many that will be YEARS and YEARS sooner if they continue smoking. Yes I'm here to scare as well! Nicotine can sway people into thinking that they'll only be happy with the cigs - but I've been quit now for 4 months and I'm VERY happy. It's just getting past everything and remaining the strong person you really are.

Especially Invinc and Ncgirl - I KNOW.....I KNOW....I KNOW you two are ten times stronger than that so I'm not sure what you're doing here. 6 weeks Invinc? Come on - why even 2 weeks? You know that it gets harder the longer you continue. You have to fight the beast!

I feel bad for you two because granted sometimes I miss it out of boredom or whatever, BUT it's NEVER worth giving into. I read your posts and see how disappointed you are in your words or unhappy, but yet you're still comin out here huh................so deep down you do not want to continue smoking.

We just need to come up with a plan and get you two back on track...my buddy ole pals ole friends

So ladies (and any gents if you're out there too) - let's pick a quit date and start getting excited about not carrying around your embarrassing stinky self. LOL

I care about you guys so I don't want to see any loved ones throw their life away for a &*()&(&(*(*(*)(&(&*( cancer stick. LOL

Make it happen, say your prayers and we're here for ya

Laurie

Re: RELAPSERS - get bk on the program

Just wanted to drop you a line and say glad to hear it has been 4 months since you have smoked How did you do it?

I have been using the nicotrol patches for 23 days now. I am doing pretty good. I did slip last night and had two and threw the pack out. I don't want to do that again.
I am still working on dealing with stress.

Hey Otis--

Good going on throwing that pack out!! We don't need any cigs lying around when we first quit smoking, or later for that matter! I quit 7 months ago, and it would still bother me to see cigs around the house. (I just went through that with my dad visiting for a month).
Laurie, (the person you replied to) comes around about once a week or so, so maybe she'll be around in a few days.
Congratulations on your 23 days, and keep being strong. Just a reminder, don't ever smoke while you are wearing patches!
Good luck Otis!
DEDA

Re: RELAPSERS - get bk on the program

Hi Otis and Deda and any others

Otis I had tried to quit 2 months before this final quit and used Nicotrol - lasted 3 days I think but my problem was not being consistent. I'd go a day without it thinking "I feel good, I don't want one so I don't need the nicotrol" and then I'd get a killer craving out of nowhere and that's when I broke down.

I had set my quit date I think a week in advance, but I knew it was time for it to go. Just something I knew I couldn't continue to do regardless of how much I liked doing it so the night before the great american smokeout (11/19 at 9pm) I had my very last one and threw everything out - the ashtrays - everything that was remotely related - lighters, etc....

I was going to do the patches but I looked in my drawer and I had nicotrol and nicorette in there and I thought - I'm TIRED of spending money on cancer stick related crap so I decided I would just suffer through it and bought some stop smoking books to read. I even threw myself on the couch screaming on day 2 I think. LOL (laughin out loud) It was quite the scene. LOL

BUT I didn't give in and for that I'm greatful! Once I got to day 4 I was ok. Granted - the first few days - every waking minute was consumed by thoughts of smoking but now here I am at almost 6 months and it's not a second thought - actually not even a distant thought. I love not being enslaved to it - so many things I didn't get to do all because of that nasty crutch.

I prayed alot too - that did help! Surely can't hurt for those that don't believe in that.

I wish u the very best Otis and STAY STRONG - you can do it. You just debate yourself out of it or come out on the web and look up disfigured people from smoking - go to the lung cancer boards to remind yourself that you do not want to die. Whatever you do..............DO NOT SMOKE! That's the key!

Best of success

Laurie
