She doesn't have to stop everything in her life to quit smoking. In fact being busy is a good thing. Former smokers sometimes have trouble figuring out what to do with themselves early in their quit. I don't see why you would have everyone move out while she quits. Quitting is for the rest of her life so no use leaving her while she does it.
If nicotine replacement and Zyban is ruled out, she is left with the cold turkey method. Some people swear by it. Has she consulted her doctor for advice and help such as a support group? Participating in a support group increases the likelihood of staying quit.
Good luck to her and you and I hope that she is able to quit, cold turkey or not.
Question: how could nic replacement be any worse than actually smoking cigarettes, which you indicate she is doing now? Is not actual smoking worse than chewing a piece of nic gum?
