Problem after 6 months..

I have quit smoking now for 6 months... Yahooooo But, now another problem arises, I have started smoking infrequently. I mean one day at a local casino.... LOL... I lit up one of hubbys cigs, one led to another and another and before long I had smoked 10 cigs. When we got in the car to leave I had no urge to smoke and did not again for almost 3 weeks, then lit up one to just kinda cure stress. Then last week it was the casino again that got to me. (i know stay away from the darn place right???) Since then hubby put cigarettes on my work tools and said here ya go when I got ready to go to work last week and every since then I have been carrying them in my purse and having one or two on occasion. Now is it possible to just have a few here and there or am I playing with fire by doing this. I do not crave them anymore and just do it as a release I guess. I don't think I would get hooked again but who knows what the mind does to a person right? I had smoked for about 35 years before I quit and just cold turkeyed it when I did with no major problems at all with quitting (and may I add that I was smoking about 3 packs a day when I did quit!) Input anyone on my smoking on occasion?

Re: Problem after 6 months..

Well, you already know the answer. You are playing with fire!!! I blew a nine month quit doing exactly what you are. Come to your senses before you are smoking full-time and just quit. You'll be glad you did.

And, what kind of husband would leave his cigs around for you? You need to tell him to hide them from you or, better yet, it would be nice if he quit smoking.

Re: Problem after 6 months..

I’m behind lu55 here 101%

I blew two quits the same way over the years. One was well over 4 years. It happened wile I was drinking in a bar years ago. I also just went to a casino a year ago and was overwhelmed by the smoke and can understand how you could have gotten tempted again after breathing it for a wile. EVERYBODY WARNED ME but I didn’t listen and was in denial. I realized when I tried to stop that it was like I never quit before. It really doesn’t matter how many a day you’re doing. SOME PEOPLE ARE ADDICTED ON LESS THAN YOUR DOING NOW! Look at the equivalents of how much nic is even in the first stage stop patch that people use to quit. You will find that it is probably less than what you’re smoking right now.

You are at a very serious fork in the road. I would decide which path soon if I were you. Everyone here has been thru the put it off until next week game that lasts for years or until they wind up with medical problems.

Please put them things away for yourself and for your loved ones.

Good luck
John

rocklady54....You are not just playing with fire, girl, you've already JUMPED into it!! And you're making little excuses, "I'm tense", etc...but the truth is, you are already craving them!! (Or you wouldn't even be smoking!) Don't let them fool ya, it's very insidious. I quit 23 months ago, after smoking for 30+ years, chain smoker like you were too. I had a relapse after about 5 months, and smoked off and on for a few weeks. Finally I came to the truth, I was going right back to where I started, and I wanted to stop it right then. So I DID--got back on my patch and haven't smoked since. I now don't miss it at all, I really don't, and I hate the very thought of smoking again! Nope...not gonna happen ever again. I'm too damn happy where I'm at right now--SMOKE FREE!!!
As far as going to casinos, I can now go without a twinge of a craving. In fact, I'm leaving for NV in a few days, and will be staying at a casino/hotel, drinking my plain tonic water and chewing a few pieces of nic gum. What a square I've become....I LOVEEEEEEE IT!!!
Please stop now, slap your patch back on girlfriend, before it's too late. You'll really regret it later if you don't!
Good luck!!!
Deda

Re: Problem after 6 months..

The President of our company hadn't smoked in several years. He went to Las Vegas and thought he would have one. Then he said he would finish the pack and be done. Then he said he would quit on his birthday a few weeks later. Guess what? It's been almost two years since he went to Las Vegas and he's STILL smoking! Just from having that "one" cigarette.

Don't do it!
