Most of us would or had to give up the bar scene for a while, till we were strong enough to handle being around it, if we truly wanted to be smoke free. You usually do have to make sacrifices to give em up for good. It's so worth it tho!
Smelling it and seeing others smoke so up front and close to you makes it just about impossible at first. Might be a few that can do it...but I think it's just too high risk....at least the first 6 months or so. I think that I succeeded in quitting this time around, (after at least 1O quits), as I haven't been to bars in years now, and most of my friends are non smokers. It did make it so much easier.
