Hi Shorty...
I quit almost 3 years ago...and I gained around 12 lbs, but I also had just found out that I had an underactive thyroid gland, so that was a part of the gain also. At first when I quit, I did munch quite a bit, (every time I quit), but only in the beginning...after a few months, that nervousness slowly subsided, and I went back to eating normal, only to change to being a very healthy eater. (unlike when I WAS smoking) I've now lost weight, and have lost about 10 lbs.
Anyway, when I did decide that it was time to quit for good, I had remembered something my son had told me, "Wouldn't you rather gain a little weight, (that you can surely lose later), than end up skinny someday, skin and bones... in the hospital with a lung disease?" I chose the former...even if it meant gaining a few lbs..big deal. And you can keep it down by starting an exercise program soon after you quit..just like Frosty stated.
Good luck!!
