Six and a Half Weeks

Hello,
I am 6 1/2 weeks into quitting smoking. I must say I'm feeling a lot better but not 100% yet. However, I still want a cigarette. I smoked for 25 years and I must say this is by far the hardest thing I've ever done. I want a cigarette sooooooooooo bad. I have replaced smoking with eating. I use to eat only 1 meal a day but I'm eating a lot more. I think I've gained about 5 pounds. I just want this craving for the smokes to go away. WILL IT EVER GO AWAY???????? Even though it's been 6 1/2 weeks, I feel funny. I don't feel like my old self. Maybe I'll never feel like that again. I have so many emotions flowing through me. I cry at least once a day. I think I'm mourning the loss of my cigarettes. I'm glad I've taken this step by quitting but also it is very painful. I keep thinking if I smoke I'll feel better but I know that will just reel me right back in. My body is going through all types of changes. My feet are cold, my hands feel tight and numb occasionally and my sleeping is still off.
Does anyone have any words of wisdom to throw my way???????????

Re: Six and a Half Weeks

No words of wisdom except it gets better everyday. Every single time I get through one more stressful episode in the saga that is my life without smoking I know I'm done with it this time because that was always my excuse to smoke again. Take it easy Patcher you can do it just like everything else.

Re: Six and a Half Weeks

Hey Patcher, I personally am soooo proud of you I can't even make it thru the day without one. I keep thinking I will do it everyday and light it up. God I hate myself daily. It is soooo tough to quit as everyone knows who tries. You will feel better I know and don't you dare start again or else. I am in your corner for sure I envy you sooooo much. If I could just do it for a day that would be a plus for me. It has to be your time to quit. Don't worry about the eating it will subside. Keep it up we are rooting for you. DON'T SMOKE DISTRACT YOURSELF! Jules

Re: Six and a Half Weeks

Hi jules,
Thanks for the encouragement. But I just wanted to let you in on a secret, YOU too can quit. I thought about this for so long and one day at about 6:00pm after smoking all day I decided that was it. I have smoked a pack a day for 25 years. I pray everyday, and that I think is what is allowing me to remain an x-smoker. Because, I still want to smoke but I'm not going to. I have gone through too much with this withdrawal stage and I continue to go through it. I don't want to repeat any of this. So if you think you can't do it, know that actually you can. It gets easier everyday.
