I'm glad you recognize the need to quit smoking. The cigarette companies are putting more nicotine in their products to keep us addicted. And that is what this is......an addiction. It has to be treated like an addiction. Realize you need help in quitting.
Lots of people on this board are using a fairly new drug called Chantix. It works. I used it. But you need a prescription for it. Some insurance companies cover it, some don't. Mine didn't. I cost me about $125 a month. Someone else posted it cost them $113, I think. Check around. Prices vary with pharmacies.
Also, a lot of people have quit using nicotine replacement. The patch, gum, inhalers.
There is hypnosis. There is laser. There is always cold turkey.
Which ever method you decide on, please know that there are people here to help you through this.
There is an excellent web site, smokefree.gov that offers advice and encouragement in quitting smoking. Check it out.
