2 Weeks & 2 Days

I can't believe it---the longest I've ever quit (with a patch) is 2 weeks (or thereabouts) and that was approx. 17+ years ago (I had been smoking for 10 years).

The best thing about this time is I truly feel I will stay a non-smoker. I know it's early and I have hard times ahead I'm sure but even when I'm having a 'rough' time, I swear if cigs were in front of me I would NOT light it.

I feel SO MUCH better physically (breathing, no headaches, etc.), mentally (I feel I've broken that damned chain of addiction of which I thought I had no control-----now I am know I am stronger than that. I have a more positive outlook on life which I believe is attributable to the confidence I feel in this quit).

All I can say is Chantix and this Board are the RESPONSIBLE PARTIES and for that Pfizer and EVERYONE that has posted on this board should take a bow! FOr those lurking, you know you want to quit or you wouldn't be here, so try Chantix or actually any method and use this board OFTEN.

Re: 2 Weeks & 2 Days

Congratulations paulagizmo!! Here's to another 22.2 years times 5!!!

If you are using the patch, keep using them until you are ready to stop them. Who cares what the box says?

The breathing w/o wheezing is great, isn't it?

ps. oops, I see you used Chantix... bonk me!

Re: 2 Weeks & 2 Days

Traveller,

Thanks and 'bonk'. HEE! I was AMAZED at how much better I felt (breathing) on day 1. That's actually a bit scary cuz my breathing must have been REALLY bad to feel a difference so fast. My next dr. appt. I'll be asking him to check my lungs, etc. out but no matter what I know QUITTING either saved me from something or isn't getting any worse!

Re: 2 Weeks & 2 Days

Paula,
I know exactly how you feel. I have been off the Chantix for a while now. But I still feel the same way. I know I will be a non smoker for the rest of my life. I also know that I can NEVER take even one puff off of a cigarette. If I do, I'll be back smoking 1 to 2 packs a day again. And you know what, If I ever do relapse, I'll go right back on the Chantix.
Congratulations on 2 and 2!!!! Awesome!!

Memaw

Wink Re: 2 Weeks & 2 Days

Aloha Paula, congrats over 2 weeks with no smoke/nicotine. I'm also little over 2 weeks and it's the longest I've quit. I also feel that this time is the time I'll be a nonsmoker. It just feels right, you know.

My cravings are very mild. There are moments that they are strong, especially driving for long periods, however, not strong enough for me to light up. I'm happy to have no wheezing and I feel my asthsma may not even come back. My allergist will be so proud of me!

Anyways, keep it up the great job, I'm cheering for ya!

Wailana - Free and Healing for Nineteen Days, 12 Hours and 35 Minutes, while extending my life expectancy 16 Hours, by avoiding the use of 195 nicotine delivery devices that would have cost me $50.61.
