Chantix - Ok to stop taking then restart?

Ok i started Chantix yesterday. Within a hour or so i felt very nauseous, that lasted all day into the evening. I also was VERY bloated which along with the nauseous feeling made me not want to eat.

I slept fine through the night, no weird dreams or anything but i have the little white pill sitting here now and im debating on whether to take it.

I leave for a cruise in 2 days and dont want to have crazy symptoms while im out on the ocean for 3 days.

I wonder if i just start taking it when I get back, like I said ive only taken one pill in the AM so far?

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Tommy

Re: Chantix - Ok to stop taking then restart?

Tommy,
There's no better time than the present to quit.... HOWEVER.... if it were ME and I was about to go on a yearly vacation that I spent a lot of money on (I only get one vacation a year) I would wait and start when I got back- especially if you feel that you were already getting side effects from one pill.
The day you get back.... we'll expect to see you back here!!
Have fun on your trip....

Hi Tommy
Maryber is right.
Your entire vacation could pass in one big brain fog Why don't you make a date to come back and share your quit with us after your holiday and you can make us all jealous of the wonderful time you've had.
Hope the Chantix works out for you.
Bon Voyage

Re: Chantix - Ok to stop taking then restart?

Congratulations on decision to quit Tommy!

You should have no problem starting over when you get back. However do not take any more pills until you get back and officially start your quit.

Tommy, you have to eat something BEFORE you take these pills or you will become nauseous. You must also take it with a full glass of water. The directions on the box should. If you take these pills on an empty stomach, you WILL become nauseous and bloated all day.

Hope this helps...

Cool Re: Chantix - Ok to stop taking then restart?

Thanks everyone for the good info! Just to be on the safe side I called CVS this morning and double checked with the Pharmacist and she said the same thing, as long as I only took one i can pick up where i left off when I get back.

I will take the medication with a full stomach when i start back up on Monday thats for sure. Never in my life have i felt that sick for that long, it was a eye opener thats for sure.

Ill be back Monday everyone,

Take care,
Tommy

Re: Chantix - Ok to stop taking then restart?

Well now that was a real smart thing to do - call your pharmacist and ask.

Hey, enjoy your trip. Please check back with us when you get back. Sounds like you're gonna have a blast!!
