I seriously thought that the first 3 days would have been the toughest. They were a piece of cake! Today has proven to be a tish of a struggle.
I did take a few hours and go shopping this afternoon. Shopping does seem to help! Altho, I bought two pairs of pants and a shirt and wrote a check out for almost $200. A little more expesive than smoking, but certainly healthier, and more fun!
The 5 D's of nicotine withdrawal:
Delay until the urge passes. Usually 3-5 minutes
Distract yourself. Call a friend or go for a walk.
Drink water to fight off cravings
Deep Breaths - Relax! Close your eyes and take 10 slow, deep breaths.
Discuss you feelings with someone close to you or at the message board here.
You are doing good!! It just takes a little time. The more time that passes, the easier it will be. Be strong!! You can do this.
leave the situation, exercise, take deep breaths (this one worked very well for me), eat or chew on something, do a relaxation exercise, take a shower, take a bubble bath, do something with a non smoker, do something else like read or listen to music.
You are doing so great and nicodemon knows that. Give him a poke in the eye and hang in there. There will be ups and downs along the way but you are over the worst already. Come here and have a good moan any time. I do!!
