The devil has been knockin...

but I haven't let him in. Uggggggg! I just wish he would leave me ALONE!!

Day four seems to be the toughest so far for me. It's still not bad, but today I want one more than I ever have over the last 4.

I sure hopes this goes away!

Stacia, just allow it to pass...and it will. You are at that crucial day #4 when the nicotine has left your body and there are more withdrawal symtoms. Water, drink lots of water. Hang in there...you can make that old devil pass you by! Remember, the longer you go without the easier it becomes. Please stay with us and don't hesitate to post your concerns. CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR FOUR DAYS SMOKE FREE!

Re: The devil has been knockin...

Thanks Karen!

I seriously thought that the first 3 days would have been the toughest. They were a piece of cake! Today has proven to be a tish of a struggle.

I did take a few hours and go shopping this afternoon. Shopping does seem to help! Altho, I bought two pairs of pants and a shirt and wrote a check out for almost $200. A little more expesive than smoking, but certainly healthier, and more fun!

Re: The devil has been knockin...

Sorry Mrsdew on the sore throat. I hope it's not smoking related and I'm due for one. I fly out Monday for work and don't come back till Friday. I can't be feeling icky when I'm there.

Amazing.... but my moods have been fine... so far!

Re: The devil has been knockin...

Stacia,
The 5 D's of nicotine withdrawal:
Delay until the urge passes. Usually 3-5 minutes
Distract yourself. Call a friend or go for a walk.
Drink water to fight off cravings
Deep Breaths - Relax! Close your eyes and take 10 slow, deep breaths.
Discuss you feelings with someone close to you or at the message board here.

You are doing good!! It just takes a little time. The more time that passes, the easier it will be. Be strong!! You can do this.

Coping Skills,
leave the situation, exercise, take deep breaths (this one worked very well for me), eat or chew on something, do a relaxation exercise, take a shower, take a bubble bath, do something with a non smoker, do something else like read or listen to music.

Hope some of this helps you.

You are doing so great and nicodemon knows that. Give him a poke in the eye and hang in there. There will be ups and downs along the way but you are over the worst already. Come here and have a good moan any time. I do!!
