I forgot to take my 1/2 pill yesterday evening and it didn't seem to make any difference exept that I think that I slept better last night. Do you think that it would be OK to use only one pill a day? I normally take a full pill in the morning and half of one at dinner time.
Hi Tom,
How far into your quit are you? I am taking one pill in the morning, and that is it. I started about 2 weeks into my quit because I couldn't sleep. I noticed a few more cravings at night, but nothing I couldn't handle. I am sleeping MUCH better - almost too much now.
Keep us posted!

Hi tom, I have also been taking only one pill a day for the past 2 weeks due to the insomnia and I have been doing well. No big cravings.
Good luck!
I have been quit for 1 Month, 3 Weeks, 2 hours, 19 minutes and 34 seconds (49 days). I have saved $202.52 by not smoking 736 cigarettes. I have saved 2 Days, 13 hours and 20 minutes of my life. My Quit Date: 2/6/2007 5:15 PM
Thanks everyone for your input. I have been nicotine free for 29 days in 2 hours. I didn't take my half pill again tonight and am going to try to go without it for a couple days to see how it goes. So far so good.
Hey TomJC - congrats on your 29 days smoke free! WOO HOO!!
I quit taking the Chantix after the 2nd week and am still doing fine in my quit. I think everyone will be different. My husband quit taking his too - and he was a heavier smoker than me - and has cravings every now and then, but he's doing just fine. We are determined to make this work for us, so I think alot of it has to do with you, as a person and your willpower and how much you want to stay quit. If this is it, and you've made up your mind, no more smoking, then "Smoking is not an option" and you can probably wean yourself off or quit taking the med altogether. If you stop taking it, and feel the urges coming back, then pop a pill. I didn't feel I needed them any longer. I just need to get thru that first week or two of being a non-smoker.
I have been quit 4 weeks, 4 days, 3 hours, 27 minutes, 43 seconds
Tom,
If you were only taking a half pill in the evenings, I don't see where stopping it will hurt. Try it for a week and if you do okay...good!!! If you find your cravings are stronger, go back to the half pill.
A lot of the people here have done really well on just one pill a day.
Good Luck to you!!
So, you've been quit for about 1 month!!! CONGRATULATIONS!! WAY TO GO!! GOOD JOB!! WOOOOHOOOO!!
I too am only taking one pill (1mg in the morning). This is my 4th week on Chantix. I stopped smoking on day 5 so I've been smoke free for 3 weeks and 1 day. It cost $106 for 4 wks supply for me which means I need to cough up $106 in the next couple of days. Do you think it's too soon for me just to stop taking it? I really don't think I would go back to smoking as I have too many people that would kick my butt & a 7 year old daughter that would be very upset with me. What do you think?? Thanks!
Hi Cindy,
If you are only taking half the dosage, you should have enough pill for two months instead of one. So keep taking the one pill until you run out and then see how you feel. Remember, it is not much more than you would have spent on cigarette, anyway. A lot of the people here have quit before the 12 weeks. I took it the whole 12 weeks. This is something you are going to have to decide for yourself.
Good Luck to you!! And CONGRATULATIONS on being smoke free for
3+ weeks!! WAY TO GO!!
