Anyone quit and have worsened digestive problems?

Hi all! It's been 19 days today without a cig and my digestive problems have gotten actually worse!! I suppose a lot of it has to do with age anyway--50--but the reflux got worse, the diverticulosis got worse, hemorrhoids, etc. I'm really feeling like an old fogie--bran flakes and everything (LOL)! It's kept me from thinking about a cigarette because now I've been to the doctor at least twice to get better. Could this mean that my innards are actually healing and not getting really worse? I would love to hear from any of the senior members with a few months or years under their belts to see if they've had similar experiences. Thanks so much! Hopeto
