Re: Xray

Hi Noni - I didn't, but I want to! I need to get a full physical....my blood pressure and cholesterol are up a little - probably from the extra lbs I put on. But I am trying to exercise and am working on my diet. I only gained about 5 lbs - but I know any extra weight is not good for you. I know someone on here got a chest x-ray just after quitting, and they worried themselves sick about it, convinced they had some dreadful disease. If you want to get one for peace of mind, go ahead, but unless you have symptoms or feel like something's wrong, then I wouldn't. Or maybe I would, just to be sure, but then again......see, you can drive yourself crazy with this!! Do what you feel is right inside.....what your gut is telling you.

Re: Xray

Thanks Skimmer, I feel fine and I also had on last year in April all clear. I think as you said driving myself crazy. How long did you smoke for? Thanks for your reply.

Re: Xray

Noni - I smoked I guess since I was around 15 or so - not heavy back then....mainly a weekend smoker for the first 5 or 6 yrs....then not even a real heavy smoker after that - one in the morning, one at lunch, a few at night and loaded up on weekends. Drinking and smoking sorta went hand in hand.....I can't even imagine having one now......well, sort of...

Re: Xray

No, I would be too scared to have a chest x-ray now after 26 years of smoking. It would be interesting though to have one now and see the damage, then maybe another one in a couple of years after quitting to see improvements.

Plus, I've had a lot of other x-rays lately and worry about the radiation.

Wouldn't it be neat to be able to see our lungs right now? I'm sure that would make us stay off cigarettes for good!!!!

Re: Xray

You betcha, I did talk to a co-worker today regarding the xray and she told me no for the same reasons as yours Firbrana "radiation" I did have one last year in April so thanks for the reply. Good luck today and go for a walk when you get stressed, I know easier said than done.
