I'm 38 yrs old, been smoking since i was 20 . average pack a day smoker. For the past 2 yrs i have tried to quit maybe 5 or so times..I have now been smoke free for 4 days..I quit on my fathers B-day he would have been 70. I really want to beat this habit before it beats me. I hope i can continue. I dont want to be a smoker at 40 yrs old.
good for you! i have been smoking for 42 yrs, go diagnosed with copd about 12 yrs ago! right now i have been on chantix for a wk, and really want to win this quit. i am on daily inhaler now, and am petrified of carrying oxygen around.
you are very smart quitting at such a young age. best of luck to you!
please keep us posted on how well you are doing..........bevann
Thank you..and i wish you the best also. On day 5 smoke free and i already feel so much better. I am determined to beat this thing.. The urges to smoke are very tough at times. Yesterday was a tough day, decided to go walking and it helped. Hope everyone in here the very best!!!!!!!!!!!
Good Job!! I know its tough. I smoked for about 30 years. Have been quit a little over a month. I feel better, I smell better and I am so happy! I am a non smoker! woohooo and you will be a non smoker as well
You can do anything you set your mind to do, and nothing worth having is EVER easy....that's why it feels priceless when you succeed. I haven't smoked in a month. Somedays I have to fight myself.....I struggle, but I can't tell you the joy and PRIDE I feel for being strong. I'm 38 too. I have to stay away from alcohol for a while.....cigarette association thing. In a couple of months I will give it a shot. Hang in. It will pass and oneday you will wake up and realize you have gone the ENTIRE day without a single thought to smoking!
Thank you for the encouragement, sounds like your doing a great job yourself. Today was day 6 without a smoke for me and was another tough day..chewing alot of gum, certs, etc..and for some reason the craving for a smoke is at its worst after work and thats when i go for a walk it really helps to forget about the craving. Anyhow again GOOD LUCK TO ALL IN HERE !!!
