Hubby quit...I cannot stand him

I am a former smoker..almost 1 yr down. I know how easy and how hard it is but well worth it.

But...my hubby quit about 3 months ago. He smokes once in a while but says he has it under control, fine.

I am not sure if I can stand him anymore though. The rollercoaster of emotions he goes through. The blame all goes on me, short temper, drinking vodka everynight. I have tried to get him to talk to the Dr about meds...I used them. But he is a man and can do it on his own.

Anybody else have the problem?? We are both reasonable people, and we for the most part get along. But not how sure to deal with this if he will not get help???

Yeah..to all the quitters. I love being smoke free.

Re: Hubby quit...I cannot stand him

he is still at a difficult place in his quit. although he more like unquit since is still smoking a bit. this keeps him in a constant state of withdrawal. of course he is hard to be with. unless he stops completely i don't see this changing. good luck.

Re: Hubby quit...I cannot stand him

bonzer...thanks you put a name to it!!! My hubby is in a constant state of withdrawls. He keeps smoking, quitting, smoking no wonder he is sooo out of wack.

Sad to say he is back to smoking again trying to control it. He is talking like a junkie, "I can control it, I will quit, I am constipated that is why I went back to smoking".

Smoker/non Smoker...I just want my hubby back. I am not sure if I can live with his mood swings. We might need to get some help.

I guess my biggest reason for never touching a cig again is I am an addict. I never want to deal with withdrawls ever again and live is sooo much better.

Wondering how you have been doing!! best thing for you to do is to be strong, stay quit and be an example to your hubby. He will see that it is not that hard. Good Luck to you!

Re: Hubby quit...I cannot stand him

I feel your pain, i went through this a few years ago with my ex. He started drinking too, and if i gave him suggestions he pretended not to hear me. I did say he is my ex though... maybe some help would be good?

Re: Hubby quit...I cannot stand him

I printed out a bunch of info on quitting and what nicotine does to the body, brain and everything else it damages. I forgot that he has not really read up or read any information. I read up everything I could get my hands on.

There was something called the smoking syndrome, he read it and said "hey that is me and I never realized it".

He decided he is going to set another quit date! He also will go visit the Dr and get on some type of meds for depression Wow...that is a big step for him.

PixieJen-
My hubby hit the vodka hard when he quit also. Now that he is smoking, he is not drinking. I hope he will get the help he needs cuz I would like to keep him!!!

It is all up to him and I hope he makes it!! He just wants to quit so damn bad.

All you quitters...keep quit!!!! Thanks for the support!!!
