8 days smoke free

Don't seem like many ,but this is a mile stone for me.

Using chantix and its been very effective so far.I don't have the urge and cravings have been very minimal.

I can only take half a pill at a time do to other medications.

I think this time has been different because this is what I want, not because I have family nagging,Drs saying quit and so forth. This had to be my choice.

I chose a quit date that was extremely stressful and made it through it.So many times in the past I'd quit,I'd make the excuse well I'm stressed and buy a pack. This time is different.

I don't miss them!!!!!

Re: 8 days smoke free

Hi Nuffs3,

*******YAY 8 DAYS THAT IS GREAT********

I have never heard of chantix. Maybe not something we have in Canada. A lot of people use Ziban (SP?) here....I asked my doc about it but he said no due to side effects could make my symptoms worse.

*****I'M CHEERING YOU ON HERE******

Re: 8 days smoke free

Wow!!! Eight days -- actually, nine today ... whoo-hoooooooo!!!!!!!

And, YES, this is a huge milestone. You've made it past a week: You've gotten through weekends, weeknights and weekdays. A full week ... awesome!!!!

Gosh, I remember you coming here last month with your new prescription in hand.

Quote:
I'm starting chantix tomorrow.GP prescribed it today. This site was very informative.

My GP made sure that I was stopping for me and not because my neuro told me to or family pressuring me.I told him I was doing it for me and no one else.

I'm really hoping this helps as I have tried cold turkey, patches, gum and anything else.
And look at you now! Done with hell week. In the past. Asta lavista, Baby! You will never have to go through that again.

Big-time congratulations to you. You so deserve to treat yourself to something nice with all that savings from not smoking.

Re: 8 days smoke free

Thanks guys,

Was down at my dads ans step mothers and they smoke like chimneys one after another.

There house stinks, which when I did smoke ,I could barely stand being in there house as the cig smoke was so bad.

I realized tonight I don't need that smell, finally I suggesested we move to the back patio, little more pleasant outside.Plus I had my 12 year old with me and she didn't need there second hand smoke times 2.

Yes,I made it through the weekend,4th of July parties and my dads house. So far so good.

Eating to eat hasn't bothered me as in when I quit cold turkey I ate everything all day long. But I've been on steroids so my eating habits have changed to a degree.I can use a few extra pounds.

As doing something nice for myself,I joined the fitness center for 1 month just to see how I like it.Been going 4 to 5 times a week, under protest some mornings,my son drags me at 7 AM everyday. The weekends are mine.

The hardest part is past the first 3 days. Now is just will power.
