Trying Chantix.....again!

I'm on my 2nd try at quitting with Chantix, and I have a question. During the first week, did you smoke as you normally would, then quit on the 7th day?

I'm determined to win this battle!

Re: Trying Chantix.....again!

I am on chantix, come day 4 I did not smoke and havn't.I have been nicotine free for 28 days.

After reading many post on chantix,I beleive its up to each individual. This med is a one size fits all med right now.I think this med effects each of us differently and its not a miracle med,its only part of the equation.A person has to want to quit and be committed to becoming a non-smoker in order for chantix to be effective.

Some have picked their own date and others have let the date pick them. For me the date picked me.

As of right now I only take half a pill in the morning and thats it.I have never taken a full pill, they have been half doses.

If you are truelly committed then you will succeed.I know you can do this and want to do this.If its easier letting the date pick you then do it that way or shoot for day 7 or 8 and go from there.

Re: Trying Chantix.....again!

GOOD MORNING ATLANTA BLUE, I ALSO TOOK CHANTIX, THE FIRST WEEK WITH THE WHITE PILLS I THINK I ONLY SMOKED AROUND 3 CIGARETTES IF THAT. LIKE YOU I WAS TOTALLY DETERMINED TO GIVE THIS UP SO EVEN THOUGH YOU CAN SMOKE WHAT YOU NORMALLY DID I DID NOT, I TRIED SO HARD TO GIVE IT UP WHEN I FIRST STARTING TAKING CHANTIX. RIGHT NOW I AM TAKING A HALF OF A BLUE EVERY OTHER DAY, IT'S IS FINE. I KNOW I AM READY TO CONTINE TO BE SMOKE FREE WITH NO CRUTCH. ( I BETTER BE) LOL KEEP POSTING AND LET US ALL KNOW HOW YOU ARE DOING.

HAVE A GREAT NON SMOKING DAY

JEAN

I have been quit for 2 Months, 4 Weeks, 7 hours, 22 minutes and 55 seconds (89 days). I have saved $567.09 by not smoking 1,786 cigarettes. I have saved 6 Days, 4 hours and 50 minutes of my life. My Quit Date: 4/30/2007 12:00 AM.

Re: Trying Chantix.....again!

I used Chantix and quit on my 9th day. Did not think I was ready but it was relatively easy. I feel it has more to do with determination than anything. My sister took some extra time on the med before she quit(2 weeks). I am almost 5 months quit and been off the Chantix since May 6th. It is all good. Good luck to you. You are brave, if I smoked and wanted to try Chantix again I could not be sure that it would work as well as the 1st time. That is why it is much easier staying quit. I am at a comfy point in my quit. Not safe but comfy. It is a day to day decision to not smoke.
