My husband took Chantix and didn't smoke for 8 months. And, since he's never been able to quit for more than a couple days, I consider this a major success.
We were fortunate enough to go to Europe for 3 weeks for vacation. Everyone smokes over there. Well, one day we're sitting at a cafe in Paris drinking espressos and he decides that he wants a cigarette. But, he swears he doesn't want to start smoking again, just be an occasional smoker while we're in Europe.
We've been home for 3 weeks and I finally forced him to tell me yesterday that he's not only bumming cigarettes here and there, but has been purchasing them as well behind my back. He was too humiliated to tell me.
I'm picking up his scrip for Chantix today, but just needed a little support from those who have been there. I feel so bad for him, but I'm kind of mad too. We worked so hard and he's gained so much weight from quitting the first time. I thought all of this was behind us.
