Question Nicotine patch & 'poppers'?

We all know what the nicotine patch is so I don't feel I need to go into detail regarding that.

"Poppers", are an inhalent (amyl nitrate/nitrite) that has been used for decades (at least since the 60's) that are used as a sexual stimulant (to increase pleasure, etc) during sexual encounters (they are more popular with gay/bi men). They do raise the blood pressure temporarily (maybe a few minutes max with the big 'rush' being the first 30-60 seconds) and then decreases back to normal.

My question is is it safe to use poppers while on the nicotine patch? Poppers and viagra (and drugs alike) are a BIG no no as you can have a heart attack with the combination of both 'drugs', however I have yet to find any information online regarding popper use and the nicotine patch.

I have asked my doctor, heck he didn't even know what poppers were until I explained to him what they were. He said he didn't know.

Anyways if anyone could answer who knows what they are talking about I would appreciate it. As I have exhausted my search and don't know where else to turn too.

Thanks!

Re: Nicotine patch & 'poppers'?

I would think there's definately a risk when it comes to mixing any type of drugs. Myself being a former indulger not nitrie but other stuff I remember several scary moments when it felt like my heart just may explode out of my chest. So my advice would be to not mix and I hope I won't insult you by saying perhaps you should tackle one addiction at a time.

Thanks but inhalents are not an addiction lol (for me anyways). It's just something I like to include in sex (it's not a must). But after speaking with others about this I have discovered it's not a problem. I'm already smoking and doing them so why would it be a problem with the patch? The patch only has nicotine (not all the other added crap found in cigs) so there is no reason why it would be a problem.

Re: Nicotine patch & 'poppers'?

Well for example there was a gentleman who lived round the corner form me and to put it nicely he was very LARGE he smoked like a chimney and I guess between the weight and the smoking he was advised by his Dr to lose weight and quit smoking. So he got the patch and proceeded to just take it off every time he smoked a cig, he died of a heart attack in his early 30's the patch delivers it threw the skin and there's no way to know how much is too much or too little . I'm no Dr maybe you should ask another one just to be on the safe side.

Your not talking about what I asked! I didn't ask if it was OK to use the patch and smoke at the same time, the question was regarding inhalent use and the patch. I'm quite aware that smoking and patch use at the same time is a recipe for disaster.
