Tuesday Jan. 8, 2008 I was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia and had a blood oxygen level of 37. According to my doctor I was almost ready for a ventalator.
I have been a smoker for 45 years and naturally quit immediately because of hospitalization. After being released from the hospital I started on week two with Cantix since I already had quit smoking in the hoapital. The last couple of days I have experienced nausea and I'm thinking it is because of Chantix so I am going to quit taking it tomorrow. Some of my friends have suggested the patch or gum but since I haven't had any nicotine in my system for 12 days I'm afraid to introduce any at this point.
Does anyone have any opinion on this? This is my first time quitting and so far so good. I really want to keep smoking out of my life because of my COPD and other health problems. Any suggestions or opinions will be apprecitated. I'm kind of a loner and don't have much of a buddy support system.
mufpuf, good luck with quitting. I was in the hospital for a week and when I got home I started on the patch because I needed something to help even though the nicotine was supposed to be out of my body. My doctor said being on the patch and not smoking was 1000 time better than starting up again. That was 20 months ago and I'm still smokefree.
